GE Aviation launches joint venture with tech company

GE Aviation has partnered with a technology company to create a new joint venture called PG Technologies.

The Evendale-headquartered business announced it would partner with Praxair Surface Technologies Inc. to formally create PG Technologies. The company will focus on the development and application of specialized coating for current and future engine models.

Coating operations for PG Technologies will be based in Ellisville, Miss., Indianapolis, Ind., and the Republic of Singapore.

PG Technologies — headquartered in Indianapolis — will play an important role in GE Aviation’s engine manufacturing system, said Colleen Athans, vice president and general manager of GE Aviation’s supply chain.

“With engine production volume levels growing, GE’s need for specialized coatings will also increase, and this joint venture will ensure we meet our commitments on the performance and durability of our engines,” Athans said.

Praxair, a Fortune 300 company with 2015 sales of $11 billion, is a leading industrial gas company in North and South America and one of the largest worldwide.

GE Aviation is Ohio’s largest manufacturing employer, according to state records. GE anchors an aerospace parts manufacturing industry that employs thousands in the region, including two locations in Dayton.
