Columbus airport offers new flights to Mexico, Dominican Republic

A discount travel company is offering new nonstop flights to Mexico and the Dominican Republic from John Glenn Columbus International Airport.

Vacation Express is offering seasonal, nonstop flights from the Columbus airport to Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Weekly service to Cancun will be available every Sunday through Aug. 6, while flights to Punta Cana are available now through Aug. 7.

Vacation Express’ nonstop flights are operated by VivaAerobus on A320 series aircraft, and flights to Punta Cana are operated by Swift Air on a Boeing 737 aircraft.

Flights include a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage and snack, and travelers can bring one free carry-on bag. Six-night packages including air and staying at an all-inclusive resort starts at $849 in Cancun and $799 in Punta Cana. Kids under 12 stay free at some resorts.

Packages can be booked on the Vacation Express website. The Columbus airport offers up to 150 daily departures to 34 destinations. More than 7.3 million passengers traveled through the airport in 2016.
