The average airfare out of the Dayton airport is $412, $35 more than other regional airports, according to U.S. Department of Transportation data.

The Akron airport has the cheapest average airfare in the region at $323, followed by Cleveland at $335.

Average Fares are based on domestic itinerary fares from origin cities consisting of round-trip fares unless the customer does not purchase a return trip. In that case, the one-way fare is included.

For years, the Dayton airport had the lowest average fares in the region but starting in 2014 prices started increasing higher than other regional airports, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The Dayton airport has seen fares rise from $374 in the fourth quarter of 2013 to $412 the second quarter of 2016, a 10 percent increase.
