Fuyao spent nearly $800K for consultant skilled in ‘union avoidance’

In a battle with the United Auto Workers for the hearts and minds of workers last month, Fuyao Glass America, one of the area’s fastest growing manufacturers, won handily, beating the union 2 to 1 in a National Labor Relations Board-overseen election.

Workers resoundingly rejected forming a collective bargaining unit with the UAW.

Keeping the union at bay was evidently very important for the company. At a time when Fuyao was still struggling to attain profitability, the company found the means to spend nearly $800,000 for an Oklahoma-based consultant who boasts of helping customers in the art of “union avoidance.”
