Gallup Poll: Ohio ranks low for healthy eating

Ohio residents have some of the worst eating habits in the country, according to a new Gallup survey.

Gallup ranked 189 metro areas based on answers to the question: “Did you eat healthy all day yesterday?”

The lowest rates of healthy eating came from metros in Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Louisiana, where at lest two communities in each state that were among the 25 lowest-ranked metros.

In Ohio, Cincinnati, Columbus, Canton, Akron and Toledo all were among the 25 lowest-ranked metros for healthy eating — with just over have of respondents in each city saying they ate healthy all day the previous day.

The Dayton area ranked just above the bottom 25 at No. 105, with 62.4 percent of survey respondents saying they ate healthy all day the previous day.

Th survey results were based on more than 350,000 telephone interviews with adults across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, conducted from Jan. 2, 2015 to Dec. 30, 2016.
