Appliance store hhgregg is closing 88 stores and laying off 1,500 employees, and four locations in Ohio will be impacted.

The store, which has struggled with poor sales in recent quarters, is expected to close the stores by mid-April. Impacted stores include:

• Springdale

• Fairlawn near Akron, Ohio

• Mansfield, Ohio

• Newark near Heath, Ohio

“We are strategically exiting markets and stores that are not financially profitable for us,” hhgregg CEO Robert Riesbeck said in a statement. “This is a proactive decision to streamline our store footprint in the markets where we have been, and will continue to be, important to our customers, vendor partners and communities.”
