The firm just also recently purchased the South Park United Methodist Church, located at 1701 Brown St. The church was listed by Miller Valentine realty services.
The Dayton Daily News was the first to report about the church’s sale back in October, and found that local residents and some UD officials said they do not want to see student housing developments creep into areas west of Brown Street.
UD officials have heard there’s a great interest to transform the church into student housing. The 48,000-square-foot structure sits in a neighborhood that is about 98 percent occupied, and homes rarely come up for sale.
The church building dates back to 1926 when it opened as Patterson Memorial Presbyterian Church — named after NCR founder John Patterson. It became a United Methodist Church in 1968, and merged with Oak Street UMC in 1995.
