4 new restaurants eyeing Mall at Fairfield Commons

The Mall at Fairfield Commons has obtained four signed letters of intent from restaurants seeking to build new eateries in space that will be created by the demolition of a former Elder-Beerman store, the mall’s general manager, Bruce Goldsberry, said this morning.

The Beavercreek Planning Commission is scheduled to vote Wednesday on plans submitted by mall officials that include both the demolition project and construction plans for what would eventually become five new restaurants. Four of the five spaces have letters of intent staking out preliminary interest.

Three of the restaurants will be connected to the mall, and two will be in free-standing buildings, according to city documents. Together, the five eating establishments will take up about 39,860 square feet.

Goldsberry declined to release the names of the restaurants or restaurant chains, and said mall officials are still negotiating leases for the spaces.

MFC Beavercreek, LLC, of Columbus, submitted the demolition/construction plans to the city, which also call for an additional mall entrance be built in between two of the restaurants. Beavercreek city staff has recommended approval of the application, which also must be approved by Beavercreek City Council.

Goldsberry said pending the planning commission and city council approvals, demolition could begin within the next two weeks, and may be completed before the end of the year. The projected timeline for restaurant construction has not been finalized.

Elder-Beerman had operated stores on both ends of the Beavercreek mall for several years but announced in April that it would consolidate into its store on the north side of the mall that previously held its Men’s, Kid’s and Home departments. The consolidation left vacant the portion of the mall that previously housed Elder-Beerman’s women’s departments, and which once housed a Parisian department store.
