Video games industry generate $43M in Ohio

The video game industry is seeing a rapid increase in revenue, generating more than $43 million in Ohio and supporting more than 610 jobs statewide.

New data released by the Entertainment Software Association showed the video game industry is increasingly providing more jobs and revenue in the state. Ohio employees in the industry earned an average compensation of $97,000 per year in 2015.

“The 21st Century knowledge economy demands a creative and innovative workforce. The interactive entertainment industry is powered by real jobs that develop the most innovative and remarkable technology and entertainment in the world. These high-paying, creative careers build communities all across the US,” said Michael Gallagher, president and CEO of ESA, the trade association that represents the U.S. video game industry.

In 2015, the gaming industry added $11.7 billion to U.S. GDP.
