Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate at weekend fest

It is the time of year when local chocolate lovers rejoice.

The 12th annual Community Chocolate Festival will be held from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 1043 S. Main St., Dayton.

“There is cholocate fudge, chocolate cookies, chocolate cake, chocolate cheesecake on a stick… Everything imageable that is chocolate,” said Melody Morris, who co-founded the event with fellow Faith and Friends Radio host Bill Nance.

Why it ranks: Here's a shot to put yourself in a chocolate coma for charity. The event sponsored by FaithandFriendsRadio.com includes a chocolate recipe contest and a themed Tropical Chocolate Paradise. Proceeds benefit Faith and Friends programs and outreach. There will be children's activities and live Christian music throughout the day. Big-band singer Dave Boyer will headline the festival at 10:30 a.m. and noon.
