The 6-foot-6 forward from Chicago has scored 1,111 points in his career, ranking 35th. The A-10’s most improved player in 2015 took a step back last season because of injuries but is again one of the conference’s best players at the rim as his career winds down.
Dayton coach Archie Miller talked about Pollard on Monday on the coach’s show on WHIO with Larry Hansgen.
“His sophomore year, a lot of people don’t realize it, but as a coach I valued Kendall in our stretch run more than anybody else on the team,” Miller said. “That’s how much of a workload I put on him coming down the stretch. He was playing his career best. Last year was unfortunate. This year with a very slow start, he fought his tail off through body soreness with no legs in December to get himself in a situation in January for the grind of the conference. The one thing he’s always been is when the lights are on, he’s not afraid. You love guys like that. He’s had the most consistent work habit he’s had in a couple of years because of health. I’d have a hard time picking the MVP. We have a lot of guys. But he’s playing a very high level. He willed us to overtime with his defense at Davidson on Friday. I’m proud of him. He’s done well."
