‘Hate has no home here.’ T-shirt sales lead to big donation to organization that fights racism

How is this for irony: the KKK’s recent visit led to a big donation to an organization that makes fighting racism part of its mission.

The owners of Heart Mercantile, 438 E. Fifth St. in Dayton’s Oregon District  announced Wednesday that they donated $5,191.78 to the YWCA Dayton.

The donation came from proceeds from the sale of the “🤬 Racism” T-shirts the store sold in response to a rally on Courthouse Square organized by a group affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan.

"The *(f word) racism* tees and tanks raised $5,191.78 and as promised we donated 100% of the proceeds to an organization the KKK hates: our local YWCA.
Thank you to each and every one of you that purchased one.
Hate has no home here," the shop's owners say in a Facebook post.

YWCA’s mission is “eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.”

The store is current selling “🤬Tornadoes”and “Dayton Strong” T-shirts.

Heart owners say they will donate proceeds from the sale of those shirts to The Foodbank.
