In celebration of its 20th birthday, Amazon kicked off the first-ever Prime Day last July — boasting more deals offered than Black Friday.
In 2015, Prime members purchased more than 14 million items from sellers and small businesses. This year for Prime Day, more than 30 percent of Lightning Deals globally will be from sellers.
The total number of Prime Day deals from sellers increased across all Prime-eligible countries and the number of small businesses and sellers worldwide participating in Prime Day increased more than 100 percent year-over-year, according to a news release.

Members in the U.S. can shop starting at midnight, with new deals as often as every five minutes.
“Prime Day gives small businesses and entrepreneurs selling on Amazon from around the world a peak sales day during the summer months,” said Peter Faricy, vice president for the Amazon Marketplace. “Customers have the opportunity to support small businesses by purchasing unique products at a great price with fast, free shipping, and it helps sellers prepare for the upcoming holiday season by providing feedback and more customer reviews on their new and top selling products.”
To participate in the day of deals, shoppers must have an account or free trial of Amazon Prime.
