Austin Landing witnessing flurry of development

The spring has brought considerable activity for development at Austin Landing.

Along with the ongoing work to complete a 270-plus unit upscale apartment complex, a 12-screen luxury cinema and an 108-room extended stay hotel, a handful of new restaurants are planned near its park.

The new eateries are part of a estimated $45 million in new construction planned over the next two years at the 142-acre mixed-use complex by VisCap Development, which is overseeing the sprawling development off Interstate 75 at Austin Boulevard in Miami Twp.

The apartment complex – The Flats at Austin Landing – is open, but not yet completed. The multiplex theater by Cinépolis and a Staybridge Suites are expected to open this summer.

VisCap has not yet announced the specific restaurants to be housed in a pair of recently approved buildings. But officials have said they should be built and open by early 2018.
