Ollie’s Place just dropped its new menu items, and they look BOMB

Today, Ollie's Place unveiled a new menu with items that are sure to make your mouth water.

The new additions come a few weeks after Ollie’s made two key hires and unveiled several new tastings to elevate its game beyond beer.

The restaurant, tap room and whiskey bar at 518 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, between Centerville and the Dayton Mall, hired a new chef to overhaul the pub’s food-service operation.

It has also launched regular Saturday wine tastings starting on Saturday, Aug. 26, and unveiled a monthly whiskey tasting on Aug. 23.

"We have hired Rashan Williams to bring exciting dishes that will pair well with wine and beer," Ollie's owner Mike Schwartz said. "Rashan comes to us from the Hawthorn Grill, where he was the Sous Chef."

The highlights from the new menu include Caribbean Jerk rubbed chicken wings with a spicy pineapple sauce, smoked mac and cheese with bacon crumbles on top, spinach artichoke dip and last but not least, smoked ribs

New wine director Don Terpstra will oversee the wine program at both the pub and the adjoining retail shop, with an eye toward boosting Ollie’s presence on the local wine scene.

“At the conception of Ollie’s Place, we planned for wine to be a factor,” Schwartz said. “We now have an experienced person in wine to carry us through. We soon will provide folks with a nice selection of wines for their dining pleasure and for them to take with them. Wine tastings and food and wine pairings are on the near horizon. We will also feature Don in the restaurant for sit-down tastings.”

The Saturday wine tastings will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., starting on Saturday, Aug. 26.

“My love of craft and import beers evolved into an appreciation of wine,” Terpstra said. “I started as a clerk at Arrow wine and sought the opportunity to learn and become involved with wine at every chance available. I look forward to assisting people in all aspects of wine education and appreciation, in addition to providing the opportunity to try wines from all over the world.”
