Hearing rescheduled for teen accused in Fairmont student’s murder

A probable cause hearing scheduled for today for a Kettering teen accused of shooting 16-year-old Ronnie Bowers near AlterFest has been rescheduled.

  • Kylen Jamal Gregory, 16, will face two murder counts; two felonious assault counts; and two firearm charges.
  • Gregory will be charged as an adult and will next appear in court on Jan. 30.
  • A Montgomery County Juvenile Court judge has ordered Gregory be held until his probable cause hearing, which will now take place on Jan. 30.

Gregory is one of four suspects taken into custody after Bowers was  shot in the back of the head in the 800 block of Willowdale Avenue near Ackerman Boulevard in September. Bowers died two days later, and the coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Gregory was singled out by the other two juvenile defendants as the one who "fired the gun, striking" Bowers, according to police and court documents.

In November, two of the three teens charged in Bower's murder pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and agreed to testify against Gregory.
