BREAKING: Raising Cane’s confirms Beavercreek restaurant

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers plans to build a new restaurant on a vacant lot near the North Fairfield/Kemp Road intersection in Beavercreek.

The restaurant could open as early as May, depending on weather and other factors, Andria Morgan, marketing manager for Raising Cane’s Dayton-area franchisee, told this news outlet today.

Plans submitted to the city of Beavercreek call for a 3,576-square-foot restaurant to be built on a vacant tract adjacent to a Speedway on Kemp Road just east of North Fairfield Road.

Those preliminary plans have been approved by Beavercreek City Council, although, “Nothing will be finalized until the lot is created for the restaurant and permits have been issued,” Beavercreek Planning Director Jeffrey M. McGrath told this news outlet.

“If all goes well on (Raising Cane’s) end, I would hope that could be completed in the next month or two, if not sooner,” McGrath said.

Morgan said the new restaurant will create 60 to 80 jobs.

“We have been fortunate in the communities we have been opening restaurants in, and Beavercreek is no exception,” Morgan said. “The community has been very welcoming and inviting to Raising Cane’s.”

Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers operates multiple restaurants in the Columbus and Cincinnati areas, and opened a restaurant in Fairfield in October.

A month later, in November, Morgan said Raising Cane’s plans to open a restaurant at 1136 Miamisburg-Centerville Road (Ohio 725) in Washington Twp., in space that most recently housed a Golden Dragon Buffet & Grill, and, before that, a Ryan’s Steakhouse.

And plans call for adding more Dayton-area locations, Morgan has said.

Morgan said Raising Cane’s Ohio franchisee, RCO Limited, has found a welcoming and very loyal customer base as it has opened stores in the southern half of the state. In 2004, the franchisee opened the first Raising Cane’s outside of Louisiana in Columbus, Ohio.

The chain prides itself on a limited menu and a simple concept, focused on chicken fingers, made “fresh, never frozen,” marinated for 24 hours, then hand-battered and cooked to order. Also featured on the menu are crinkle-cut fries, cole slaw, Texas Toast and sauces that are made in-house every day.

The Raising Cane’s franchisee is aware of the accelerating competition among chicken restaurants in the Dayton area, but is confident the popular chain will attract a following. “Raising Cane’s has carved out its own niche,” Morgan said in November.

Chick-fil-A opened two new Dayton-area restaurants — in Kettering and Troy — on the same day a month ago. And Mike’s Nashville Hot opened a new restaurant in Centerville last month after opening its first Dayton-area location in Austin Landing in Miami Twp. late last year.
