The investigation into McKee and Skirvin — described as boyfriend and girlfriend in court documents — began in August 2016 because of complaints from east Dayton residents about the alleged sale of narcotics, according to a criminal complaint written by a Drug Enforcement Agency task force officer.

In August, October and November of 2016, RANGE Task Force members executed search warrants at 316 S. Jersey St., 223 South Hedges St. and 926 Huffman St., where one or both suspects were the subject of searches that netted evidence of drug trafficking, according to DEA officer Michael Auricchio.
The complaint said surveillance was done at the East Third address in April and May, and a confidential informant set up controlled buys of drugs that contained fentanyl, according to the Miami Valley Crime Lab.
