Jerome Kyle “J.K.” Schaffer, 26, was taken into about 10:15 a.m. at a church in Chapel Road in Morgan Twp., according to the sheriff’s office. He is charged with assault, breaking and entering and public indecency, according to jail records.
Deputies were called out to the 3400 block of Chapel after Schaffer allegedly assaulted a man then fled, according to the sheriff’ office. They then got a call from a church where Schaffer was allegedly trying to break into a car and was taking his clothes off.
Schaffer was arrested without incident, but when he was taken to the jail, “he uncooperative and in a very agitated state and appeared to be under the influence of some type of drug,” said Chief Deputy Anthony Dwyer.
On Monday, Schaffer remained housed in the jail. His case will be heard in Butler County Area I Court in Oxford, but a court date has not yet been set.
Schaffer played football for La Salle High School and UC. He signed on as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012, but was released from the practice squad; he was picked up by the Bengals and signed to the practice squad that November. He was added to the roster in Sept. 2013, then waived in Aug. 2014, according to WCPO, our media partners.
