The Ohio State Highway Patrol plans to set up an OVI checkpoint in Warren County tomorrow evening.

The location of the checkpoint will be announced Friday morning.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers, according to a press release.

Last year in Ohio, there were 392 OVI-related fatal crashes resulting in 430 deaths, according to state data.

State troopers make approximately 25,000 OVI arrests each year.

“OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways,” Lt. Chuck O’Bryon, commander of the patrol’s Lebanon post, said in the press release.
