In his personnel file obtained by our news team, Steven Jutras had 21 incidents recorded between January 20 and March 11, 2015. The problems noted include arriving late to work, leaving early and sleeping in class.
The school district placed Jutras on paid leave on March 19. He’s prohibited from being on school property or at any events involving the district without written permission from the superintendent. He’s also barred from having contact with students in the Huber Heights school district and must return any district items and keys that he has in his possession, according to the letter in the file from the superintendent.
Criminal drug charges have not been filed by police.
UPDATE @ 6:52 p.m.: Steven Jutras, a 45-year-old junior high teacher in the Huber Heights City Schools, is one of the four people arrested in a drug raid on a home in the 4200 block of Vitek Drive.
The raid occurred at his home, according to police, who said they seized methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, mushrooms and other drugs.
District Superintendent Susan Gunnell said Jutras, a 10-year employee with the district, was placed on leave a week ago involving a separate incident — also outside the school district.
Jutras was head basketball coach at Huber Heights for three seasons, from 2004-07. The Warriors were 11-10 and 14-8 in his final two seasons. His coaching contract was not renewed following that season.
Gunnell said the district will conduct its own investigation of this newest incident involving Jutras.
Huber Heights police Sgt. Charles Taylor said the department hopes the prosecutor’s office will approve the charges within a few days.
According to the police department, the others arrested with Jutras have been identified as:
- Christina Ruble, 30
- Marco Antonio Cardona, 42
- Walter Phibbs III, 28
