Miami County judge revokes bail of man accused of leaving Dayton man who died

A Miami County judge Thursday revoked the bond of a Dayton man accused of leaving another Dayton man, later pronounced dead, at the entrance of Upper Valley Medical Center in January 2017.

Virgil Corbin, 48, pleaded not guilty to felony tampering with evidence on Jan. 24 and was released on a recognizance bond in Miami County Common Pleas Court.

Sheriff's investigators said last year they had identified Corbin as being involved with leaving Terry E. Sims, 59. A nurse going to the hospital found Sims, investigators said. The death was caused by multiple drug intoxication by fentanyl analog, cocaine, ethanol and hydrocodone, according to an autopsy report by Miami County Coroner William Ginn.

On Thursday, defense lawyer Anthony Sullivan told Pratt that he had been unable to contact Corbin since Jan. 31.

Pratt said Corbin violated conditions of the bond, including moving without notifying the court, not showing up for weekly meetings at pretrial services and facing new charges in Montgomery County. She revoked the bond and ordered a warrant for his arrest.
