Brothers is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Dayton Municipal Court later on misdemeanor counts of OVI and failure to control a motor vehicle.

Dayton police officers were dispatched around 3 a.m. Saturday after a report of a suspicious vehicle on East Fifth Street, according to a report.
Another crew responded after an officer said Brothers took off in his Dodge Journey and crashed into the garage next to a residence on Cooper Place East.
The driver “appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotic,” an officer said in the report. He also wrote that another officer “located a stack of mail inside of a United States postal bag behind the driver’s seat.”

“The mail was in a bundle with a rubber band around it. The mail had several different people’s names and addresses from the Kettering area.”
The report said one piece of mail appeared to be opened and a credit card fell out. There were several postal uniforms in the rear seat and “three clear bag(s) containing suspected cocaine inside on the front passenger seat.”
Officers identified Brothers as the driver and tried to reach a postal service supervisor, according to the report.

Later, a supervisor contacted the U.S. Postal Inspector service and confirmed Brothers worked for a U.S. Post Office in Kettering.
The supervisor retrieved the mail from Brothers’ vehicle, which was then towed.
Brothers was arrested at 5:15 a.m. Saturday at Miami Valley Hospital, according to the police report.
