Franklin police said on Dec. 4, Carrozza allegedly had a needle in his arm and appeared to be overdosing in the drive-through lane at the McDonald’s restaurant, 1425 E. Second St. When police arrived at the restaurant, Carrozza had left the lot. However, Carrozza was stopped by police a short time later.
During that traffic stop, police found a loaded syringe on the floor of Carrozza’s car. In addition, police found a loaded concealed handgun along with heroin, fentanyl and other drugs, such as methamphetamines, that were packaged for distribution, according to the incident report.
Police took Carrozza to the Kettering Health Network facility in Franklin for evaluation. Two other people in the car were not charged.
Carrozza was not charged at that time, but the drugs that were found in his vehicle were sent to the crime lab for testing and analysis, police said. After the crime lab confirmed the illegal drugs, arrest warrants were issued for Carrozza.
Police found Carrozza driving around on Hemlock Street on March 21. Carrozza reportedly did not stop at first when a police cruiser tried to pull him over. However, after another cruiser blocked Carrozza’s vehicle, police took him into custody. After another search of Carrozza’s car, police found fentanyl related compounds and syringes.
Carrozza was indicted on the following charges:
- Trafficking in heroin, a third-degree felony.
- Firearm specification, one-year.
- Specification for forfeiture of money in a drug case.
- Possession of heroin, a third-degree felony.
- Trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a third-degree felony.
- Firearm specification, one year.
- Specification for forfeiture of money in a drug case.
- Possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a third-degree felony.
- Trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony.
- Firearm specification, one-year.
- Specification for forfeiture of money in a drug case.
- Possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony.
- Improperly handling firearms, a fourth-degree felony.
- Carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony.
- Aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
- Possessing drug abuse instruments, a first-degree misdemeanor.
- Illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
- Failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a first-degree misdemeanor.
