Ian MacKenzie-Thurley, executive director of the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, became a U.S. citizen earlier this year.

He voted for the first time in a U.S. election Tuesday morning as he cast his ballot at Garfield Middle School.

“It was very special. Great to have the opportunity to participate,” he said, adding, “I have my (I voted) sticker on.”
