UPDATE @ 12:43 p.m. (Sept. 15):

Moore was a sex offender, according to records from the Court of Appeals Fifth Appellate District in Richland County, Ohio, and was required to register as a sex offender once a year for 20 years following a judgement in August 2001.

He first entered state prison in June 2002 on a charge of corruption of a minor in Huron County, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction officials said. He was released on parole in December 2002.

State officials said he returned to prison in June 2005 for failure to register as a sex offender in Montgomery County, and was released in December of that year.

In April 2009, the sex offender returned to prison for failure to notify officials of a change of address in Richland County. He left prison in May of that year, but returned in June for theft in Crawford County. He was then released in November that year.

Moore returned to prison three times between 2012 and 2016 for failure to notify authorities of changes of address in Richland and Lorain counties, state officials said.

Most recently, he was released on parole on Aug. 31. He remained on the state’s registry of parolees Wednesday.

Elyria-based attorney Nicholas Hanek said he was Moore’s court-appointed attorney most recently in November 2015, before he returned to prison in January.

Hanek told this news organization he didn’t know anything had happened to Moore.

“I haven’t been in touch with him since the end of the case,” he said.

UPDATE @ 12:39 p.m. (Sept. 15):

Montgomery County officials said the man found dead along Wildcat Road was a convicted sex offender that was released from prison on Aug. 31.

Brian Wallace Moore was supposed to register as a sex offender in Mansfield or Dayton, but never showed up to complete his registration, officials said.

UPDATE @ 9 p.m. (Sept. 14): An autopsy is to be performed Thursday on Brian Wallace Moore, 35, who Huber Heights police said was found in a wooded area off Wildcat Road on Tuesday afternoon.

“The body that was located, appeared to be under some kind of conditions, either wrapped in something, we’re not sure what that wrapping could be,” Huber Heights police Sgt. Charles Taylor said.

A worker at nearby Trimble, a technology company on Kellenburger Road, said he was walking his normal loop and noticed a strong stench that had been in the air the previous day as well.

“I’m on Wildcat just before Kellenburger, I’m calling to report a deceased person in the woods just at the Bethel Township sign,” the male caller said. “The body looks like it’s been here quite awhile.”

The caller said that during a walk Monday, he and several Trimble workers “noticed it smelled like a strong smell of something decomposing.”

“I happened to be walking by myself today, and you can see some recent vehicle tracks into this area,” the man said. “I went to see if somebody had been dumping trash back here and it’s actually a body and not trash.”

Police are working to determine how long the body was in the woods and whether where it was located will become a crime scene.

Taylor said once police get a description of the person, the description will be matched against local missing persons cases. He said if you’re missing a loved one or relative, or know of any strange circumstances regarding that person, contact Huber Heights police at 937-233-2080.
