“This award is given each year to someone who is always supportive of our mission, our programs, and our students. Those nominated are the professionals who willingly give a tremendous amount of time and talent to ensure MVCTC has continued success,” says MVCTC Superintendent Nick Weldy.
Johnston was nominated by the MVCTC Satellite Department for the award.
She has been instrumental in the Project SEARCH program at Miami Valley Hospital South. Project SEARCH is an international program that teaches individuals with disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 22 job skills by providing hands on internships throughout the hospital.
Upon completion of the program every effort is made for each intern (student) to find competitive employment that matches his or her preferences, interests, needs, and strengths. Although it is not the expectation, Miami Valley Hospital South hired three Project SEARCH interns from last year’s class.
