The wing has sent planes to the Springfield region in recent weeks, and in the past has flown at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The unit also practices in the Buckeye and Brush Creek military operating areas over rural southern Ohio.
The fighter wing is an aerial defense squadron for regional airspace.
