They were on Diamond Mill Road on Sept. 13 when they saw a car angled off the road in the aftermath of a crash that just happened.

The six jumped into action, finding that the woman’s car air bag has deployed.

One student, Jeremy Smith, cut the air bag before they discovered the woman had a leg injury. They covered her with a blanket, asked if anyone else had been in the vehicle with her because they noticed two empty child safety seats.

They called 911, helped reach the woman’s husband by phone and checked on the other driver involved.

Four of the students had previously received first-aid training while another, Chris Boyle, was familiar with EMT training.

Farmersville Fire Department workers arrived on the scene, shortly followed by New Lebanon Fire Department.
