DETAILED FORECAST

Overnight: Snow showers will pick up overnight before changing to freezing rain, then to rain after 5 a.m. Saturday, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs said. This will give a brief window, especially on bridges and overpasses, where a light accumulation of snow or ice could develop. Drivers should be careful traveling late tonight. North of Interstate 70, snow accumulation could be 1 to 2 inches along with a light glaze of ice everywhere.

Saturday: In the very early morning there likely will be a transition from freezing rain to rain. After sunrise it looks like any slick spots will melt quickly. Temperatures will push to the upper 40s. Winds will be getting stronger with gusts from 40 to 50 mph during the day. Spotty power outages are possible with the gusty winds. Rain showers will taper off into the evening. Some flurries or light snow could develop with little to no accumulation. It will be dry overnight, but bitterly cold and windy with chills dropping into the single digits.
