Driver in fatal Butler County crash remains hospitalized

The driver of a van involved in a Madison Twp. crash Tuesday night remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Anthony David Keith, 22, of Middletown, was traveling north in the 6200 block of Hursh Road when he lost control and went off the road and rolled several times, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Eric Daniel Richmond, 24, of Hamilton, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The Butler County Coroner’s Office determined Richmond died of multiple traumatic injuries.

Keith was transported by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he was listed in critical condition today, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Two other occupants, Douglas Robinson, 22, of Cincinnati and Chris Sweet, 18, of Middletown, were transported by medical units to area hospitals for treatment.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate investigate the crash that occurred at about 7:45 p.m.

Deputy Brian Bussell said all four men worked in Liberty Twp. and had already dropped off one passenger and “were taking the long way home.”

Bussell said it appears the occupants were not wearing seat belts.
