Mayor Jeff Gore said he hopes the development will help spark additional investment in southern Huber Heights.

“I’m glad to see another nice facility, a nice structure, a gas station being built in that part of town toward the southern end,” Gore said. “That shows there is good investment opportunity for businesses in the southern end of town.”

The plans, which were discussed at a recent city council work session, still need to be approved by council.

Casey’s, which markets itself as “Famous for Pizza,” has made a recent push into Ohio. The business is an ubiquitous staple in many rural Midwestern communities, especially in Iowa where it is headquartered.

Established in 1968, Casey’s General Stores Inc., (NASDAQ: CASY) operates more than 2,000 stores in 15 states. The company plans to build or acquire 90 to 120 stores in fiscal year 2018, according to its second quarter results.
