Fire destroys Greene County pole barn, lawn mowing equipment inside it

UPDATE @ 7:30 p.m.: The investigation is continuing into what caused the fire that destroyed a 40 foot-by-60 foot pole barn in the area of Spring and East streets, Spring Valley Twp. Fire Chief Mark Moeller said.

The structure was fully involved in flames when crews arrived, he said.

Moeller said he believes the property owner operates a landscaping business. The fire destroyed mowers, trailers and other equipment in the barn, the chief said.

FIRST REPORT

A pole barn and lawn mowing equipment inside it have been destroyed in a fire this afternoon in Spring Valley Twp. in Greene County.

When the fire at 1676 East St. was dispatched about 5:30 p.m., the report indicated heavy flames showing from the barn.

We’re told the cause is under investigation and there are no reported injuries.

Fire crews from Bellbrook, Xenia, Sugarcreek and Wayne Twp. assisted Spring Valley in handling the fire.
