Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman to retire at end of Reds’ 2019 season

Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman will retire from the airwaves following the completion of the Cincinnati Reds’ 2019 season, the team announced Wednesday.

The 2019 season will be Brennaman’s 55th season as a broadcaster and his 46th in Cincinnati, according to the team.

Brennaman joined the radio booth in 1974 and called games for 31 seasons with Reds Hall of Fame pitcher Joe Nuxhall.

Brennaman received the Ford C. Frick Award in 2000. The award is presented each year by the Baseball Hall of Fame to a broadcaster “for major contributions to the game of baseball.”
