UPDATE @ 3:05 p.m.:

Sgt. Chris Colbert, of the Dayton post of Ohio Highway Patrol, said a semitrailer traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 took the exit ramp to U.S. 127 but failed to stop at the stop sign at the top of the exit ramp.

That semitrailer struck a second semitrailer that had been traveling west on U.S. 127. The second semitrailer involved was pushed into a vehicle that was in the next lane.

Colbert said the two vehicles that were not at fault were pushed off the roadway into the grass and caught fire.

The at-fault semitrailer continued down a grass embankment before coming to a rest. The injured person flown from the scene had been in the at-fault semitrailer’s sleeper cabin, Colbert said.

The driver of the semitrailer initially hit escaped the vehicle. As well, as a driver and passenger in the vehicle struck, according to Colbert.

The OSHP post is investigating why the original semitrailer never stopped at stop sign.
