Man rescued from burning Harrison Twp. home indicted on several charges

Kevin Howard was indicted on aggravated arson, felonious assault, abduction and domestic violence, court records show.

He is scheduled for arraignment on May 2.

FIRST REPORT @ 3:41 p.m. (April 22):

The 62-year-old man firefighters pulled from a bedroom during a house fire on East Nottingham Road last week has been charged with aggravated arson, according to records.

Deputies said there were multiple fires set inside the home in the 300 block of East Nottingham, which are believed to have been started by Kevin Howard.

Howard is charged with aggravated arson, felonious assault and kidnapping, according to online records.

Howard also was the suspect in a domestic violence incident the night before the fire, where he was accused of assaulting an ex-girlfriend, according to an affidavit filed in court.

Firefighters were dispatched around 7 a.m. April 18 to the home in the 300 block of East Nottingham Road near North Main Street after a neighbor heard fire alarms going off in the house.

“I smell some sort of smoke and I hear an alarm going off and no one is responding,” neighbor Ryane Williams said in the 911 call.

“I went and knocked on the door. I just want to make sure they are OK,” Williams said.

Howard was taken to Grandview Medical Center, but is now in the Montgomery County Jail.
