Officials say the man was traveling west on State Route 41 near Eldean Road around 5:40 a.m. when the crash occurred.
The utility pole was snapped in half as a result of the crash with live wires being held up in place by the tree the van hit as well.
The driver was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center with a reported leg injury.
Careflight was requested to meet officials at the medical center, so it is believed he will transported to another area hospital.
