The Troy City Schools Board of Education voted Wednesday to hire SHP Leading Design to help the district engage the community in a look at facilities.
The company was one of four that earlier made presentations to the board on the services available. The agreement is for 20 months at a total cost of $45,000.
Superintendent Eric Herman emphasized the hiring approved was for community engagement, not for construction/renovation project architects. The firm has expressed interest in that work, as have others interviewed. Herman and the board have been talking for months about the need to take a look at the district’s aging facilities. Discussions also were held recently with the Ohio School Construction Commission about placing the district on the active list for state funding to help pay for a possible building project.
