Miami County will have more deputies on patrol during the holiday season to improve traffic safety.

TROY — The Miami County Sheriff’s Office has deployed additional deputies for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays to target high crash roads and roads where a high rate of operating while under the influence arrests have been made.

The deputies will work 114 hours of overtime during the holidays, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies will be enforcing strictly state traffic laws with a zero tolerance for violators.

The added enforcement is made possible with a grant from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office. The grant pays for overtime and some fuel costs. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
