College student-athlete from Oakwood ‘OK’ after teams involved in north central Ohio vehicle crash

UPDATE @ 11:30 p.m.: A Mount Vernon Nazarene University cross country runner from Oakwood is "OK" after the teams were involved in an accident with a semitrailer in north central Ohio, the student-athlete's mother said.

In an exchange via social media with WHIO-TV anchor James Brown, the mother of Macy Krasofsky said the vehicle her daughter was in was sideswiped by the semitrailer before it collided with another vehicle.

Krasofsky is a freshman with the Cougars, according to MVNU's online roster.

Five members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University cross country teams suffered minor injuries Friday in a vehicle accident involving a semitrailer in Shelby, Ohio, university athletic department officials said.

Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams and coach were headed north on South Gamble Street in Shelby when the semitrailer went left of center and struck two vehicles traveling with MVNU. Two additional vehicles in the caravan were not hit.

According to the Cougars' online roster, Macy Krasofsky, a freshman from Oakwood, is a member of the cross country team. The names of those injured have not been released.

The teams were traveling to a scheduled event in Sandusky.

“The crash ... resulted in heavy damage to several vehicles and five student-athletes being transported to a local hospital with minor injuries for precautionary measures,” MVNU Athletic Director Aaron Quinn said.

The crash is under investigation by the Shelby Police Department.

Shelby is northwest of Mansfield.
