Transformer explosion reported in Clark Co.

There are no more reported outages in the area of Springfield Xenia Road, according to Ohio Edison First Energy outage map.

It is not confirmed what caused the outages in the area.

FIRST REPORT:

Emergency crews are on scene of a power pole fire in Springfield Twp.

According to dispatchers, a transformer exploded and a power pole was on fire in the 2500 block of Springfield Xenia Road around 12:15 a.m.

Ohio Edison First Energy was contacted because it was an electrical fire, dispatchers said.

An estimate of 21 to 100 customers are without power in the area, according to Ohio Edison’s online outage map.  It was not confirmed if it was due to the fire.

It’s not known what caused the transformer explosion.
