Trotwood man recovering following Walmart assault

A Trotwood man is still in the hospital after he was assaulted near a cash register at the Englewood Walmart on Hoke Road, according to police.

The 42-year-old was sitting on the ground near the register when police arrived at the store around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a police report.

The victim’s wife told police her husband had been hit in the back of the head with an object, which she said caused him to lose consciousness.  She added that he “had fallen to the ground where he again hit his head,” the report read.

Medics transported the victim to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was said to be in fair condition Monday morning, according to a spokesperson.

Walmart workers reviewed surveillance footage that showed the suspect was wearing a white shirt and dark pants.  The suspect was also accompanied by another man where a red shirt and dark pants, the report said.

According to the report, the two men arrived in a white vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, with an unknown temporary license plate.

Police also interviewed a witness, who saw the assault happen, according to the report.

No one has been arrested in this case.
