Vandalia receives $50K grant

The City of Vandalia received a $50,000 grant from Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) as part of the company’s Right Tree, Right Place initiative. The funds will be used to plant 72 trees at the Vandalia Art Park.

“This money will be used to help beautify one of our emerging amenities. As a Tree City USA member, we understand the importance of the trees, and we appreciate the need to locate those trees in areas in which they will not interfere with the delivery of utilities,” said Vandalia Communication Manager Rich Hopkins.

The grants are offered to Tree City, USA communities to plant trees in city parks or public areas to enhance the landscape.

Vandalia Mayor Arlene Setzer declared Thursday, April 27, DP&L Plant Smart Day in the city.
