“We are thrilled to debut our state-of-the-art News Center 7 set for our viewers,” said Rob Rohr, senior vice president and general manager. “It’s the culmination of months of hard work, research, design prototyping and innovative technology experimentation that will captivate and engage viewers like never before.”
The set, designed by award-winning FX Design Group, allows StormCenter 7 meteorologists to track storms and alert viewers to severe weather events using a vibrant, new touchscreen display.
Anchors and reporters will tell stories using a trio of stand-up monitors that have the flexibility to turn vertically and horizontally, allowing for greater variety in graphic opportunities.
The hallmark of the new design is a giant monitor wall — an array of 18 monitors to showcase the Dayton skyline, animated graphics and compelling news video in a way no one else in the Miami Valley is able to do.
News Director Sean Dunster said, “It’s important to our team to have the best tools available to serve our viewers. This new set represents a significant investment by Cox Media Group Ohio in technology that enhances our ability to deliver great stories and important weather information.
“We are thrilled with the way it all came together, but even more excited about what it will allow us to do now and into the future,” Dunster said of the ultra-modern, cutting-edge set that is the perfect vehicle to showcase Dayton’s dominant station — the No. 1 CBS affiliate in the country.
David Bennallack, senior managing director of WHIO-TV, Radio and Digital, said, “In many ways we’re inviting viewers into our home multiple times each day.”
