These are the third and fourth coffee shops in the Dayton area to drop their affiliation with Saxbys this year. A Saxbys in Centerville transitioned into a Winans Coffee + Chocolate in March, and a Saxbys in Springboro morphed into an independent coffee shop called “This Guy’s Coffee” in early June.
Tom Routsong was the Saxbys franchisee for the Oakwood and Dayton Mall locations, and he is now the owner of both Tastefully Roasted Coffee locations, aided by a six-member development team, according to Josh Mueller, assistant manager of the Oakwood location. The Saxbys coffee chain is based in Philadelphia.

“We are now locally owned and locally driven,” Mueller said.
The coffee shops are selling pastries provided by Ashley's Pastry Shop in Oakwood. The coffee comes from Solstice Roasters in Cleveland.
“The freshness of our coffee definitely went up with this switch,” Mueller said. “They roast the beans, and we can get them delivered the next day.”

The menu has been simplified, and plans call for adding French press and pour-over options in the near future, Mueller said.
The Tastefully Roasted team doesn’t want to stand pat with two stores.
“We are looking to grow — that’s the hope and the plan going forward,” Mueller said. “We will be looking for additional locations.”

The Oakwood shop’s drive-through opens at 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, at 7 a.m. on Saturday, and at 8 a.m. on Sunday. The walk-in counter service opens at 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and at 8 a.m. Sunday. The shop closes at 9 p.m. every day.
The Oakwood shop shares space in the Routsong Commercial Center at Irving and Oakwood avenues near the University of Dayton with Firehouse Subs and the recently opened District 6 Donuts. The shop operated as a Saxbys since March 2014, until the June 13 transition to Tastefully Roasted.
