New restaurant to open next month in Kettering

A new restaurant is gearing up to open in the Kettering Towne Center in Kettering.

"KupBop – Korean Well Being Food" will be located at 3011 Woodman Drive at East Dorothy Lane in the retail center that also houses an Elder-Beerman store. It is an independent restaurant founded by Gin Yu Clark, who told this new outlet she'd like to add more Dayton-area locations if the Kettering restaurant is successful.

KupBop will seat 25 to 30 diners. It will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday.

The build-out of the restaurant is nearly complete, Clark said, and the restaurant will open sometime in November.

Here’s how KupBop introduces itself on its web site:

“KupBop is a Korean well-being restaurant which its goal is to bring to our customers food of the high quality ingredients and high nutrition value that tastes as good as it feels.

“Bibimbap is a traditional and healthy Korean dish with rich history of over 5000 years, enjoyed by royalty and commoners alike. The dish is served with sticky rice, fresh superfood vegetables, assorted marinated meat, and served with assorted sauces that could be mixed and matched to the individual’s choice.

“This classic dish contains a combination of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, and natural vitamins to create a balanced nutritious plate for the individual to enjoy on-the-go or with company.”

KupBop customers can create their own bibimbap bowl, choosing from among white, purple or brown rice; beef, chicken or spicy pork; and vegetables such as kale, cucumber, daikon, corn or lettuce, all topped with a choice of sauces.

Bibibop Asian Grill, another restaurant that will specialize in bibimbap and Korean-inspired dishes, is also gearing up to open at 1200 Brown St. near the University of Dayton. It will be the first Dayton-area location for the Columbus-based chain.
