Wright State will close one entrance to parking lot 4 on campus. The closure aims to relieve traffic congestion and improve safety for pedestrians.

Students at Wright State will discover some changes in parking soon after the start of their spring semester.

The university will close an entrance near the student union to parking lot 4. The lot is located directly across University Boulevard from the Student Success Center and Hamilton Hall.

The change is being made to "relieve traffic congestion and enhance pedestrian safety," the university posted on its Facebook page on Thursday. The change will go into effect two weeks after classes resume in January.

Anyone who wants to park in the lot will have to use an entrance from Colonel Glenn Highway near Meijer or an entrance near the Forest Lane community center, according to the university.

The announcement on Facebook drew the ire of some commenters.

“It will take even longer to park now, thanks,” commented Leigha Davis, an undergraduate student at Wright State.

The parking lot change comes as Wright State officials have mulled an idea to privatize the university's parking operation.
