Alstork honored as Raiders picked fifth in Horizon League poll

Wright State will head into new coach Scott Nagy’s first season as the No. 5 team in the Horizon League.

That is according to a poll of conference coaches, media and sports information directors released Thursday.

Valparaiso is the league preseason favorite followed by Oakland, Green Bay and UIC. The Crusaders received 35 of 39 first-place votes.

Mark Alstork, a junior guard from Thurgood Marshall High School moving to point guard this season, made the All-Horizon League second team.

He led Wright State at 12.4 points per game last season while snagging 4.7 rebounds and handing out 1.7 assists.

Alstork is one of three starters returning for the Raiders, joining Grant Benzinger and Mark Hughes.

The Raiders begin the season Nov. 11 at Southern Illinois and make their first regular season appearance at the Nutter Center four days later against Miami University.
