Oklahoma City Thunder assistant coach Anthony Grant, a former Dayton Flyer, is a candidate for the Dayton head coaching job, a source told WHIO’s John Bedell on Tuesday.

Grant, 50, was a head coach at Virginia Commonwealth (2006-09, 76-25) and Alabama (2009-15, 117-85) earlier in his career. He was an assistant coach under current Thunder head coach Billy Donovan at Florida from 1996-2006. Grant played for the Flyers from 1983-87, scoring 902 points.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported a source told him other candidates include current UD assistant coach Tom Ostrom, Northern Kentucky head coach John Brannen, former Illinois and Ohio coach John Groce and maybe one or two other coaches.

Archie Miller was introduced as head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers on Monday after six seasons in Dayton.
