Middletown’s Cris Carter sent an inspiring message to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Thursday, eight hours before their season opener against Indiana.

Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith shared a video on Twitter of Carter talking about the game, the team and the wide receivers group.

RECORD BREAKER: Ohio State has nine captains

“Players, you should know that me, as a former player, the first All-American wide receiver at Ohio State, we’re excited to have football back,” Carter said. “We’re excited about this year’s football team, more excited than any football team we’ve been excited about. Why? Because of the wide receivers. Zone 6 will bring it this year.

“There’s a couple guys individually I’d like to call out,” Carter said, “Parris Campbell, congratulations on being named a captain for this year’s team. Now we need your leadership and balling skills to come into play. Also Johnnie Dixon, you know I watched you in high school. It’s your team. It’s your time to be a star at Ohio State. And the rest of you guys, I know you are probably traveling six to Indiana. We’ve got two kids from Indiana. Go back there and represent the Buckeyes well.”
